Reading Reaction #5

Reference: Baumann, L. Skin Type Solutions. Retrieved from
this website.

Summary:

Leslie Baumann, MD talks about how stress can affect the appearance of skin. She also talks about how stress raises blood sugar levels and how this is connected to skin aging. Skin is made up of collagen and elastin. Sugar attacks these parts of the skin. High blood sugar come from adrenaline, which is the body’s way to fight stress. This keeps the skin from fighting sickness and keeping the skin with moisture. Lastly, she talks about how to keep skin healthy by getting more sleep, eating correctly, have ways to deal with stress (exercise, meditation), and how to keep the skin moisturized with lotion.

Reaction:

This is a good article to keep skin from becoming older than it has to look. Most people do not know that what they eat can affect how their skin looks. Also, smoking is really bad for your skin. These are good things to know to keep skin healthy.
